When in Rome, I mean Korea...

We finally decided to buy a tent since this was our third weekend at the riverfront. On Saturday we went to our usual spot at the free wading pool while on Sunday we decided to check out the big public pool that just opened this weekend along the river.  It was probably a dumb idea to go on a Sunday but it was definitely an experience!  We were happy to have our friends awaiting custody of their little boy come with us as the extra hands for Auden and Grant were useful with how crowded it was.  As you can see from the pictures, swim caps were required at the pool- the boys didn't mind and they looked hilarious!   I don't think we will be going back to this pool though because they do the most bizarre thing- they make everyone get out  of all four pools for 15 minute breaks every hour and a mandatory 30 minute lunch break.  It was so obnoxious and so hard to explain to the boys why they had to keep taking breaks.  Some things in Korea seem so inventive and efficient yet some do not at all like these breaks.  It's beyond me why all lifeguards need to take a break at the same time or why you can't keep one pool open and shut down another, etc.  Either way, we have more fun at our free wading pool where Auden can do his water sledding, especially now that we have a tent!

Auden likes to lay on this dry wall and calls it his "relaxy spot" after swimming a lot.  While I was with Grant Cody took this picture of more Auden "admirers."  Then went over to them to tell them to stop.  Poor little guy, it makes him feel so uncomfortable and he doesn't understand why people want pictures of him.   It infuriates me that adults would ever take pictures of a stranger's child without permission (let alone, just because of his race).

Funny swim cap boys!

So for these river outings we bring the stroller for Auden so we can hang our backpack, mat and pool toys on the back handles.  But inevitably Auden falls asleep on the 20 min. subway ride home at 4pm.  Korea's subway system is amazing with the exception of one thing- lack of elevators in some places.  So that leaves mommy to carry 60 pounds of kids up some stairs and escalators so Cody can carry up the stroller with all the bags.  Korea has been a very good workout everyday for this momma!
